Privacy Policy

Kake — Auto Expense Tracker is a smart, privacy-first personal finance app for Android, published on Google Play by Venkat Polagani. It automatically parses bank SMS alerts to extract your expenses — amount, merchant, and date — with zero manual entry. Your data is stored locally in an AES-256 encrypted database, with an optional cloud backup secured by your Google account.

This Privacy Policy explains what data Kake accesses, how it is used, and your rights as a user. By installing and using Kake, you agree to the practices described below.

Kake requests the following permissions solely to deliver app features:

This is the most important section. Kake reads SMS messages only to detect transaction information (amount, merchant name, date). Here is exactly what happens:

• SMS parsing runs entirely on your device. No raw SMS text ever leaves your phone.
• Only the extracted data (e.g., "₹500 at Swiggy on 15 Jun") is stored in Kake's local database.
• We do not collect, log, or transmit your raw message content to any server.
• We do not read personal, non-financial SMS messages.
• All local data is encrypted with AES-256 using a key stored in the Android Keystore.

Cloud sync via Firebase Firestore is 100% optional. You can use Kake in fully offline mode with no account required.

• If you sign in with Google, extracted expense records are synced to your own Firestore document — scoped to your UID and accessible only by you.
• All data in transit is encrypted over HTTPS/TLS.
• We do not use your Firestore data for analytics, advertising, or any third-party purpose.

We want to be crystal clear about what Kake will never do:

• We will never sell your data — not to advertisers, data brokers, or any third party.
• We will never read your SMS content on our servers — parsing is local only.
• We will never show you ads based on your spending habits or any personal data.
• We will never share your financial data with banks, insurance companies, or any other financial entity.
• We will never use analytics that identify you personally or track individual behavior.

Kake integrates with the following third-party services. Each has its own privacy policy:

• Google Firebase (Auth + Firestore) — used for optional account authentication and encrypted data sync. Firebase Privacy
• Google Sign-In — used only if you choose to link your account. Your Google profile (name, email) is stored locally for display. Google Privacy

No other analytics, crash reporting, or advertising SDKs are included in Kake.

• Local data: Stored on your device. Deleted when you uninstall the app or clear app data.
• Cloud data: Remains in Firestore until you explicitly delete your account from the app's Settings. We will erase all Firestore records associated with your UID upon deletion request.
• To request manual data deletion, email us at the address below.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, for significant changes, notify you via an in-app notification. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.

Continued use of Kake after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
